A former student of St. Aloysius College in the UK, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah studied Humanities and Media (BA) at the Birkbeck University of London.

A former BBC radio anchor and reporter, he was based at the renowned Bush House studios in London for nearly four years as BBC Fast Track presenter. As a regular correspondent for South African based Sports Media giants Supersport, Yaw anchored the Ghana Premier League and was selected as the Team Ghana World Cup correspondent for Brazil 2014.

After World Cup SA 2010 and following his move into partial Sports administration, he set up the Books and Boots Foundation; a sports/education vehicle operating in some deprived communities across Ghana. Ampofo Ankrah was the founding President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association until he was appointed Chairman of Beach Soccer in Ghana by the GFA in 2019.

In 2015, as the Navigator of Walkers Club Ghana, he organised over 33 fitness and general health awareness walks in 8 out of the 16 regions in Ghana. Ampofo Ankrah is also a radio and television content producer with over 20 years media experience with Choice FM, Joy FM, Atlantis Radio, Metro TV, TV3 and Yfm. Known in media circles as ‘’The Motivator’’, he cuts across from being Radio presenter, Television host, Youth advocate, social commentator, PR Consultant and Sports administrator.

Today, the Motivator is a household name when it comes to the media, events, promotions and innovation in the sports industry in Ghana. His association with Beach Soccer in Ghana makes him the undisputed founding father of the sand based sport. He is currently Head of iMax Media Sports (Online, Radio & TV) and host of the popular new virtual reality Sports Quiz “The Bos“.
